The Department of Tourism (DOT) shall be the primary government agency charged with the responsibility to encourage, promote, and develop tourism as a major socio-economic activity to generate foreign currency and employment and to spread the benefits of tourism to both the private and public sector.

ABOUT US
Established in 1973, the Department of Tourism (DOT) is the Philippines’ executive office responsible for the regulation and promotion of the Philippine tourism industry. DOT’s mission is to encourage, promote, and develop tourism as a major socio-economic activity to generate foreign currency and local employment, ultimately spreading the benefits of tourism to both the private and public sector.

Presidential Decree No. 189
(May 11, 1973), Organized the Ministry of Tourism (MOT).

Executive Order No. 120
(January 30, 1987), Reorganization Act of the Ministry of Tourism, reorganized the MOT and provided for a Department of Tourism under a presidential form of government.

Republic Act No. 7160
(October 10, 1991), the Local Government Code of 1991, provided for the devolution of some DOT functions to local government units, namely, domestic tourism promotion and tourism standards regulation.

SAN JUANICO BRIDGE

The Santo Niño Shrine and Heritage Museum, colloquially referred to as the Imelda Marcos Museum, is a building in Tacloban, the Philippines. It was formerly owned by the Marcos family and now houses a museum. It was built from 1979 to 1981 by then-First Lady and wife of President Ferdinand Marcos, Imelda Marcos.

The Sohoton Caves and Natural Bridge Park is a protected natural area about 841 hectares and a tourist attraction within the Samar Island Natural Park. The natural park features caves, subterranean rivers, waterfalls, limestone formations, thick forest and a natural stone bridge.
M/V EVA JOCELYN SHRINE
Yolanda Shrine or Yolanda monument and simply as M/V Eva Jocelyn is a ship monument washed ashore at Tacloban City, caused by Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan). It hit the central Philippines on November 8, 2013. The name of M/V Eva Jocelyn was merged to Yolanda after the disaster.

Eastern Visayas is an administrative region in the Philippines, designated as Region VIII. It consists of three main islands, Samar, Leyte and Biliran.
Eastern Visayas lies on the east central section of the Philippine archipelago. It is bounded on the east and north by the Philippine Sea with the San Bernardino Strait separating Samar island from southeastern Luzon; on the west by the Camotes and Visayan seas, and on the south by the Bohol Sea with the Surigao Strait separating Leyte island from northwestern Mindanao.
